ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited Testing and Calibration: SCANOLOGY Expands Coverage to ISO 10360-8 and ISO 10360-12

ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited Testing and Calibration: SCANOLOGY Expands Coverage to ISO 10360-8 and ISO 10360-12

14 Jul, 2026

Summary

SCANOLOGY's metrology laboratory has successfully completed two CNAS reviews, reconfirming full compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and formally adding official testing capabilities under ISO 10360-8 and ISO 10360-12. The laboratory's testing and calibration scope now covers all SCANOLOGY industrial 3D measurement products, with reports recognised internationally under the ILAC MRA framework.

Two Core Changes — Significantly Expanded Capabilities

1. SCANOLOGY Can Now Issue Both Calibration Certificates and Formal Test Reports

Until now, our laboratory operated primarily under a single service category: calibration. If you sent us a scanner or brought equipment for verification, we could calibrate it — confirming its measurement accuracy and issuing a traceable report.

Following this expansion review, we have formally established a second service category: testing.

In factory acceptance, export compliance, audit submission, and regulatory approval processes, a test report is typically required — a calibration certificate alone is often insufficient. By establishing both capabilities under a single CNAS-accredited laboratory, SCANOLOGY can now meet both needs in one place. Customers no longer need to go elsewhere for formally accredited test reports.

2. ISO 10360-8 and ISO 10360-12 Added — Full Coverage Across All 3D Measurement Categories

The expansion review also brought a restructuring and extension of our standards coverage.

Standards previously included in our calibration scope — including ISO 10360-13 (optical 3D scanning systems), VDI/VDE 2634 (handheld optical scanners), and related series — have been formally reclassified into our testing scope.

This means calibration activities now follow calibration specifications exclusively, and testing activities follow testing standards exclusively. The two are fully separated, ensuring every report we issue is fully aligned with CNAS accreditation requirements.

Two new international testing standards have also been formally added to our laboratory scope:

  • ISO 10360-8— covering coordinate measuring systems that use optical distance sensors
  • ISO 10360-12— covering articulated arm coordinate measuring machines

On the calibration side, we have added coverage under JJF 1408 (the Chinese national calibration specification for articulated arm CMMs) — closing a gap in our portable contact measurement equipment calibration chain.

One Lab. Four Equipment Categories. All Major International Standards.

Following these changes, our laboratory now holds testing and calibration capability covering all products in the SCANOLOGY lineup:

  • Optical 3D scanning systems (handheld and tracking-based)
  • Digital photogrammetry coordinate measurement systems
  • Articulated arm coordinate measuring machines
  • Tracking-based measurement probes (NimProbe, TrackProbe)

All major categories. All under one CNAS-accredited laboratory.

How This Accreditation Affects Your Reports, Audits, and Cross-Border Projects

For customers in regulated or audited industries
If your quality system operates under IATF 16949, AS9100, or similar frameworks, equipment verification reports must meet specific standard requirements. A CNAS-accredited test report issued by our laboratory under the ISO 17025 framework satisfies these requirements directly.

For customers involved in cross-border projects
CNAS is a signatory to the ILAC MRA — a framework that includes A2LA (USA), UKAS (UK), DAkkS (Germany), and over 110 accreditation bodies across more than 100 economies. Reports issued by our CNAS-accredited laboratory carry equivalent international standing. Wherever your equipment is delivered or your results need to be recognised, our reports are accepted directly — no repeat testing required.

For customers evaluating SCANOLOGY products
When we publish accuracy specifications — whether for SIMSCAN S Gen2, KSCAN-E, TrackScan Sharp, or our portable CMM AccuArm — the figures on our product datasheets and the testing standards our laboratory applies operate within the same framework.
